The Terry College of Business is part of the podcast revolution!

Each month the Terry College of Business hosts Terry Third Thursday for the Atlanta business community. This breakfast speaker series boasts of dynamic and influential speakers as well as special guests from the University of Georgia--and now everyone has access to Terry Third Thursday’s speaker series via podcast. So if you are not in the Atlanta area or cannot attend, but would like to hear the speaker’s presentation, check the podcast page so you won't have to miss out!

Although, now is a great time to attend TTT in person. In July and August Terry is offering the summer “Buy One-Bring One” promotion. So get your ticket today and bring a friend to learn from a successful and inspiring individual. Upcoming speakers include: Mark Rosenberg: President and CEO, The Task Force for Global Health on July 15, 2010 and Kenneth C. Stewart: Commissioner, Georgia Department of Economic Development on August 19, 2010.

Who would you like to come see (or hear) as a future speaker? We would love your input! Anyone who posts a suggestion will be entered to win a ticket to attend an upcoming Terry Third Thursday event at the Terry Executive Education Center in Atlanta.

The benefits of participating in company match programs

Through corporate matching gift programs, cash gifts from a company's eligible employees are matched with company or corporate foundation funds. It all adds up to a great way to increase your contributions and receive more benefits at no additional cost to you!

They are generally made in a fixed ratio to the gifts of the employee, i.e., 1:1, 2:1, etc. on an annual basis. Recent statistics show approximately 50% of Fortune 500 companies have matching gift programs and 13% of companies match at 2 to 1.

For example, a young alumni can make a $500 gift with a $500 company match and viola! He or she is a member of the Dean's Circle and eligible for all Dean's Circle benefits. What’s not to love about that? Your gift grows, which then translates into even better opportunities for the Terry College…and all you have to do is turn in some paperwork!

We hope you will search the UGA matching gift database to see if your employer matches employee gifts. Keep in mind this list grows and changes frequently, so you might also want to check with your HR department for opportunities within your organization.

Participating in your company matching gift program is just another way to provide additional dollars to provide the resources and experiences that separate Terry students from the competition. To learn more about giving to Terry, visit the Terry Annual Fund website.

Class Gift Recognition at the Terry Graduation Convocation

We are so excited about the personal recognition you will receive for earning your degree at the upcoming Terry Graduation Convocation! I wanted to be sure you did not miss out on yet another recognition opportunity, nor the chance to give back to the college who is launching you into the next phase of your life.

By participating in the 2010 Terry Class Gift you will be given a "Terry Class Donor" pin to wear with your regalia. Also, the initiative and the reason for the buttons will be explained in the program and from the podium. There is no doubt people will be looking for your button, so don't miss out!

If you have not yet made your $15 gift to the 2010 Terry Class Gift effort you can:

  • Click here to make your gift today. (Click “other”then type $15 when prompted.) OR
  • Drop off your gift with Amber Hurdle, Director of Annual Giving in 278 Brooks Hall, along with the form found by clicking here. (Simply mark the $15 only option, fill out the rest of the form and turn it in!)

Here are some common questions asked about the 2010 Terry Class Gift:

Q: I made a gift to Senior Signature, does that count?

A: If you made a $50 gift to Senior Signature, then $35 was allocated to the Georgia Fund benefiting UGA as a whole and $15 was allocated for the Terry Annual Fund. In this case, your Terry Class Gift was made in conjunction with your Senior Signature gift.

However, if you made a $35 gift to Senior Signature, no monies were allocated specifically for the Terry College of Business. In this case, all you have to do is make a $15 gift to also participate in the Terry Class Gift.

Q: I made a pledge with my ILA, MBA or MAcc program. Will I still be recognized as a donor at the Terry Graduation Convocation?

A: YES! You will have a “Terry Class Gift Donor” button and will be recognized just the same.

We hope you will make this small investment in the college that has made an enormous investment in your future. Join countless alumni in becoming a Terry Annual Fund donor through your 2010 Terry Class Gift!

The Terry Investment

Donors don't give to institutions. They invest in ideas and people in whom they believe.”
- G.T. Smith

When you give to the Terry Annual Fund, you are investing in a tradition of excellence and a legacy of generosity. This generosity allows you to make an immediate difference within Terry College and help bridge the gap being created by shrinking state appropriations to higher education. Giving to the Terry Annual Fund also allows you to invest in the future. The generosity of earlier generations make tomorrow possible for younger generations. No matter the size of the gift, the Terry Annual Fund makes it possible for you to invest in the past, present, and future of Terry College and join together with alumni, faculty, staff, friends and parents to make Terry College one of the best.

Terry College greatly benefits from annual giving for many reasons. The great aspect of annul giving is that it is annual. That means that your gift to Terry College promotes stability within the college. Annual giving can be viewed as a stream that keeps Terry College running smoothly from day to day while providing consistency for future planning. Gifts to the annual fund enhance academics through unique learning experiences including new technologies and student activities. The goal of Terry College is to give students the best experience possible. Your donations to the Terry Annual Fund play a crucial role in enhancing that experience while providing deserving students with scholarships. The Terry Annual Fund also helps attract and retain outstanding faculty which is beneficial to the prestige and reputation of Terry College.

The truth is that Terry College depends on people, like you, to maintain an institution of excellence. Hopefully, if for no other reason, you decide to give simply because you love Terry College of Business and the University of Georgia. Investing in education is sure to last because you are investing directly into students and the future business and communities they will impact. So, take part in Terry’s legacy of generosity today and help make the future brighter.

It’s easy:

· Credit Card: Visa, MC, Disc, Amex

· Matching Gifts: Over 1,000 corporations match gifts made by employees, board members, retired employees, and spouses to their institution of choice. Matching gifts enable you to double or even triple your gift to Terry. Alumni and friends receive full recognition credit for gifts. Participation is simple. Check with your company's community relations or human resources office to see if they match. If they do, they will have gift forms for you to include with your gift to Terry.

· Gifts of Securities: Gifts of stock are increasingly becoming a vehicle of choice for Terry College supporters. Stock gifts are made through The Arch Foundation, the charitable organization that raises private monies for the school, using one of three methods: Broker to Broker Transfer, Direct Transfer to The Arch Foundation for Terry, or by Making A Gift Of Appreciated Securities.

And remember, EVERY gift counts, no matter the size.

It is the collective impact gift to the annual fund make that takes the Terry College from a solid state education to an exceptional business education offering nationally ranked programs. Won't you invest in that idea and make your gift today?

We'd love to hear why our Terry Annual Fund donors choose to give. Let us know by commenting!
